It affects the postage rate you will pay. The following information is basic. We suggest that before you start creating your piece that you consult with us to make sure that you can take advantage of the best postal rates to save you money.
The best postal rates require an Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB). In order to print the IMB 4″ of white space is required. The bottom of the mail piece should contain 5/8″ across the bottom with no printing.
The Aspect Ratio (length divided by height) must be between 1.3 and 2.5. Paper color can be any light color, not brilliant colors. Paper weight cannot be less that 75# paper.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If cards are designed with a message on the left side of the address panel, postal regulations require 2-1/8″ for addressing — HOWEVER, a barcode measures 3-1/8″ and requires placement 1/2″ from the rightmost edge. Add another 1/8″ clearance on the left side of the barcode and you need a total of 3-3/4″ clear space for addressing with barcodes.
